The Diploma of Special Education is a specialist qualification designed for teachers and parents to provide the skills and knowledge in the field of disability and development. This course will provide an opportunity to acquire basic training in special education with emphasis on methods of screening, assessing and working with children and young adult with exceptional needs. This course provides the opportunity to increase their potential to work effectively with children and young adult with special needs in any environment in working towards a inclusive society.  

This program is highly recommended for parents and teachers who work in the fields of education and social services.

Aims & Objectives

·       To develop an overview on understanding children and young adult with various exceptional needs

·       To provide the skills and knowledge to identify different patterns of development in the areas of speech, hearing, communication, intellectual and language

·       To recognize the etiology and characteristic of various disabilities and the skills of differential diagnosis

·       To demonstrate effective program planning and IEP

·       To demonstrate an awareness of social, financial and legal needs of children and young adult with special needs

·       To demonstrate an understand the importance of working with family and community

The Diploma in Special Education is 18 months part time program.

The program is designed on modular basis and students have to attend class twice per week.

Each session 3.5 hours. Diploma will be awarded by  Mind Map Business School upon successful completion.

Entry Requirement

Minimum entry requirement is 3 GCE 'O' level with credit in English, or those who have completed the Certificate in Preschool Teaching or any other qualifications or equivalent. Applicants with working experiences and / or other qualifications will be considered on case by case basis.

Academic Progression
